Camelot Wheel

The Camelot wheel maps every musical key to a number from 1 to 12 plus a letter: A for minor keys on the inner ring, B for major keys on the outer ring. Tracks mix harmonically when you stay on the same position or move one step left, right, or between the rings.

Click any key to see what mixes with it, its musical name, and its Open Key equivalent. When you are ready to line up tempos too, the BPM changer runs locally in your browser on your own files.

Camelot wheel FAQ

What is the Camelot wheel?

The Camelot wheel is a DJ-friendly map of the 24 musical keys, arranged so that neighboring positions are harmonically compatible. It removes the music theory: match the numbers and letters and your blends stay in key.

How do I use the Camelot wheel when DJing?

Check the key of the playing track, then pick a next track in the same position, one number up or down on the same ring, or the same number on the other ring. Those moves keep the mix harmonic; bigger jumps risk a clash.

Is Camelot the same as Open Key?

They are two notations for the same idea. Camelot uses 1–12 with A for minor and B for major; Open Key uses 1–12 with m for minor and d for major. Every position on one wheel has an exact match on the other.

Put Camelot to work

Matching keys is half the job; matching tempo is the other half. Change a track’s BPM locally in your browser, or read the full harmonic mixing guide.
